Device Status Disclosure
Terms version 2026-10-27 · updated Oct 29 · California law
Every listing and invoice states each Unit's ESN, lock and carrier status; Units reported lost or stolen are never sold, and any other block is sold only as disclosed.
1. What each status means.
- ESN clean: The IMEI was checked and showed no carrier block on the date of our check. Return for this status: Yes, if blocked at delivery for a reason that existed before delivery (Returns §1)
- Blacklisted: A carrier blocks the IMEI for a reason other than a loss or theft report, such as a fraud flag or contract issue. Return for this status: No
- Unpaid balance: A former owner's carrier account still owes on the device; the carrier may block it if unpaid. Return for this status: No
- ESN not checked: We have not checked the IMEI. Return for this status: No
- Lock: Off: No activation lock (iCloud, Google FRP) and no MDM profile. Return for this status: Yes, if locked at delivery
- Lock: Locked: An activation lock is on; the Unit may not activate. Return for this status: No
- Lock: MDM: A device management profile is installed. Return for this status: No
- Lock: Unknown: We have not checked the lock. Return for this status: No
- Unlocked / a carrier's name: Whether the Unit is carrier-locked, as tested. Return for this status: Yes, if different at delivery
2. Lost or stolen Units are never sold. BuyiMax does not knowingly list or sell a Unit reported lost or stolen. A Unit found to be reported lost or stolen is taken off sale and handled as the law requires, including cooperation with law enforcement. If such a Unit reaches a Buyer, we refund its price on its return, and the Buyer cooperates with any lawful request about it.
3. Disclosed statuses. Units shown as Blacklisted, Unpaid balance, ESN not checked, Lock: Locked, Lock: MDM or Lock: Unknown are listed in groups of their own, priced on their own, and sold only as disclosed. By ordering them, the Buyer acknowledges the status and accepts that the Unit may not activate or may be blocked on some or all networks.
4. Buyer acknowledgment and checks. The Buyer confirms at checkout that it has read the status; making an offer, accepting a quote or bidding on a lot that shows such a status has the same effect. Statuses can change after a check, because carriers and former owners act after a sale. Each Unit's IMEI appears on the manifest at hand-over, and on auction lots for signed-in Buyers, so the Buyer can check it before resale. The Buyer does not sell a Unit it learns is reported lost or stolen and tells us at once.
5. Lawful resale. The Buyer resells Units with their status disclosed to its own customers as the law requires, and does not alter, remove or misstate an IMEI or serial number.
