Grading Standards

Terms version 2026-10-27 · updated Oct 29 · California law

Each Unit carries one cosmetic grade, one battery band and one test result, assessed by BuyiMax when the Unit was prepared for sale; together with the device status they are the listing's description.

1. Cosmetic grades. The Site shows the grades and their descriptions as set in the catalog:

"Working" means the Unit powers on and passed BuyiMax's functional test, subject to its test result below. Wear is judged by eye under normal light at arm's length.

2. Battery bands. The battery's maximum capacity, as the device or our test tool reports it: Battery good above 90%; Battery normal 80% to 90%; Battery low below 80%. Battery capacity falls with use and time after grading.

3. Test results. Pass: every function we test works. Pass with faults: it works, with the faults the Unit's notes name. Fail: one or more tested functions do not work. Not tested: no functional test was run.

4. What grading does not promise. Grades describe the cosmetic condition we saw; they do not promise any function beyond the test result, any remaining battery life, the absence of earlier repairs or non-original parts unless the listing says so, compatibility with a particular carrier or region, or the condition of accessories, which are not included unless the listing says so.

5. Colors and photos. Color names follow the manufacturer's names where known. Photos show a typical Unit of the group unless they say otherwise.

6. Changes. We may rename grades or change their descriptions in the catalog; each Unit keeps the grade and description in force when it was ordered.
